A Martini Glass and more for Bombay Sapphire
This was the advertisement that appeared in many magazines throughout the world in 1994. The photo featured a martini glass that I created for Bombay Sapphire’s “Pour Something Priceless” campaign. It was a wonderful project and it led to more interest in my work. I went on to create a limited collection of nearly 100 glasses that were sold in our galleries.
Bombay Sapphire has featured about 20 other designers and artists in their ads, including: Karim Rashid, Tom Dixon, Eva Zeisel, Michael Graves, Dakota Jackson and Marcel Wanders. Pretty incredible company!
Few people know that the opportunity to do this work for Bombay Sapphire only came after I had been commissioned to create something for Absolute Vodka that never made it to print.
Feels like destiny to me.

Did the glass come out in the bombay sapphire gift pack in Dec 1994 or Dec 1995?
Dear Ulla,
I love your work. My family has several of your lamps. I also have one of your martini glasses. It is not the Bombay painted glass but one of the others you painted. Why don’t you have them showcased on your site? They are all beautiful.
Hello Denise,
First, thank you for your kind words and support. Your suggestion to add more painted glassware to the site is a great idea. Thank you.
Hello Sheryl,
Thank you for your note! The Bombay Sapphire “Pour Something Priceless” campaign that featured Ulla’s work was in 1994. We believe that the limited edition gift pack was offered in both 1994 and 1995. Only 100 pieces were painted by Ulla. Do you own any?
